Medical Collector Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesContacts insurance companies for claim status on outstanding balances due from carriersPrepares appeal letters for denied claimsObtains necessary documentation required to submit to insurance to expedite paymentsDocuments accurate collection activity utilizing guidelines in placeReports payer issues or delays to supervisorProcesses any insurance correspondenceIdentifies underpayments by checking payments received against contracted fee scheduleTracks denials for no authorizations and notifies appropriate sitesCommunicates to billing department of billing errors for corrections and claims resubmissionsProcesses and logs payer audit requestsTrack appeals for monthly reporting purposesAppeal claims recouped for Cob issuesAny other essential function as assigned by the SupervisorCompetencies:Uses Technical and Functional Experience: Possesses up to date knowledge of the profession and industry; is regarded as competent in the functional area; accesses and uses other expert resources when appropriate.Demonstrates Adaptability: Handles day to day work challenges confidently; is willing and able to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change; shows resilience in the face of constraints, frustrations, or adversity; demonstrates flexibility.Shows Work Commitment: Sets high standards of performance; pursues aggressive goals and works efficiently to achieve them.Commits to Quality: Emphasizes the need to deliver quality products and/or services; defines standards for quality and evaluated products, processes, and service against those standards; manages quality; improves efficiencies.Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience to resolve medical claim denialsIn depth knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 CodingEOB remittance denial codes, medical claims appeal processAbility to review & interpret EOB remittances to determine and identify claims denial reasons and necessary appeal course of action for resolutionAble to identify incorrect and down codingLocation: Blue Lagoon, Miami, FLRate: $18 - 20 HRSchedule: M-F 8am-4:30pm
